University presents nationally recognized African-American Genealogist and Historian
Frazine Taylor for a seminar on finding your African American Roots:

The Montgomery Community is fortunate indeed to have Frazine K. Taylor, highly qualified and
Nationally sought-after expert in African-American research, to present a course on African-American Genealogical Research. Frazine is the Former Head of Reference for the Alabama Department of Archives and History, President of the Elmore County Association of Black Heritage, Coordinator of the African-American Course for the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR), and author of “Researching African American Genealogy in Alabama: A Resource Guide”. Frazine’s course, “Overcoming the Challenges of African-American Research” will address the special skills necessary for successful African-American Genealogical Research. After suggesting each individual begin with their own family history [oral and physical], she will introduce special collections of records, teach successful research procedures, suggest organizational formats, and encourage analytical conclusions to findings. She will also include a fantastic bibliography of helpful literature for tracing African-American Ancestors. This course is suited for Beginning and Intermediate researchers.
