Salvage the Bones

Have you read the Campus Common Reader,
Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward?

If not, you should! It is a power and beautifully written novel about 15-year-old Esch and her family as they navigate through life during the days leading up to Hurricane Katrina's landfall. Ward expertly develops memorable characters in this 2011 National Book Award winning novel.

Venture over to the Levi Watkins Learning Center (LWLC) today to view the Salvage the Bones display and grab the available bibliography and finding aid for more information regarding the novel's various themes, one being Hurricane Katrina, which could not be more relevant today given the recent hurricanes that have left many areas in such places as Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Texas devastated.
